Past news from the 2011 CMA Music Festival

June 14, 2011: The 2011 CMA Music Festival is over and we'd like to send you off with a story of southern hospitality from one of our BlueShoe clients. It shows something about why it's easy to fall in love with the small-town friendliness and kindness of Nashvillians:

Here's the story exactly as she emailed it to us:

It's Barbara Franck here, the lady from Vancouver Island in Canada who is in Nashville with her 77 year old Uncle Joe.

I had something happen today that was so amazing, I wanted to tell you. I want someone in the tourist industry to know how well I was treated.

We grabbed a cab back to our hotel at lunchtime today--the heat downtown was killing us. Turns out I dropped my wallet in the cab and didn't notice. We were just thinking about getting into the air conditioned room.

A few hours later, while I was napping, the front desk called me to say the cabbie had my wallet and was downstairs wanting to return it. It had about $750 cash and three credit cards in it--and I got it ALL back. Apparently after he left here he went straight to some sort of two-hour class, so no other patrons had been in the cab. He saw the wallet and saw my Canadian ID and remembered that we were the only Canadians he had driven today and where we were staying. I gave him a $50 tip. I hope that was enough?

Yes, I know it's crazy to carry that much cash--but my uncle is old school and wanted me to bring cash from his US currency account from home, which he had been saving for this trip.

I didn't get the cabbie's full name, but it is Tony from Yellow Cabs. I hope you will have a moment to pass this info along to someone in the tourism sector in town. Creates a lot of good will. We have been saying all week how hospitable everyone here has been!

Despite the heat, we are having a wonderful time. Hope to meet you tomorrow at the Open House if we are downtown during those hours.

Regards,
Barbara

June 12, 2011: The fourth and final night of a fantastic CMA Music Festival ends this evening with the JaneDear girls, The Band Perry, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Swift.

June 11, 2011: Chris Young, Little Big Town, Josh Turner, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride, and Rascal Flatts take to the big stage tonight at LP Field.

June 10, 2011: The lineup for LP Field tonight is tremendous: Ashton Shepherd, Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, and Reba.

June 9, 2011: Pocket schedules for the Festival are available at information booths and at Bridgestone Arena downtown. Also--go to the Fan Fair Hall at the Convention Center to find out information about the autograph sessions. We'll be posting more information about the autograph sessions later today.

June 8, 2011: Nashville's Signature Music Event Celebrates 40 Years; Country Superstar Dolly Parton to Sign in the Fan Fair Hall For the First Time in Over Three Decades.

Country Music icon Dolly Parton will sign autographs on Saturday at Noon, for a limited number of lucky winners in the Fan Fair Exhibit Hall. Parton, who hasn't signed autographs at the event since the mid 1970s, wanted to do something special for fans in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Fan Fair.

June 7, 2011: BlueShoe/CMA Festival travelers--it's the eve of your arrival in Nashville. Here are some of the guides we've emailed you in the last month. They're online as PDFs so in case you forgot to print them before you left on your journey:

Restaurant recommendations:

CMA Music Festival Program Schedule (remember the CMA's printed pocket schedules can be picked up for free in downtown at the Information booths and at Bridgestone Arena:

June 5, 2011: Award-winning and top selling country star Rodney Atkins headlines Music City Gives Back with a host of other artists on Tuesday, June 7th in downtown Nashville. Josh Thompson, Thompson Square and others will join Atkins for a night of great music. The concert will increase awareness, accept donations of needed items and raise funds for tornado victims for the American Red Cross Relief Fund through donation collection locations around the event. Donations will be directed through the Nashville CVB foundation, Music City, Inc. The concert is open to the public and will be held between 2nd and 4th Avenue beginning at 7:00p.m. The public can make donations at the event or by visiting www.redcross.org.

June 2, 2011: For BlueShoe/CMA Music Festival travelers arriving early: this Saturday (June 4), there'll be a free concert at Centennial Park from 3 to 6 p.m. It's one of a series entitled "Musicians Corner." Inspired by "Speakers Corner" in London and Nashville's hunger for free outdoor summer music programming, the 2011 season promises to be entertaining and compelling, as each week musical performers and special guests illustrate the diversity, passion, and fellowship of Music City. Local charity partners, local food vendors, and eco-friendly proponents will augment the pastiche of musical performances to create a community gathering space in Centennial Park. Musicians Corner is located in Centennial Park on 2600 West End Avenue in Nashville, TN. Events take place in the front of the park across from the Holiday Inn and McDonalds.

For the Musicians Corner on Saturday, June 11 (during the CMA Music Festival week), there'll be a SPECIAL CMA EVENT WITH LOVE & THEFT, SARA JEAN KELLY, THE HENNINGSENS, HEATHER MORGAN, ANDREW COMBS & FEATURED CHARITY PARTNER BONAPARTE'S RETREAT WITH A SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY EMMYLOU HARRIS. See the Musician Corner website for details.

All the club level and lower level seats in our inventory are located on the west side of LP Field. This is our preferred location because it puts you in the shade in the early evening and you don't have the sun shining on you or in your eyes (remember it's Nashville in the summer and it can be just a mite hot). In terms of our Gold Circle downtown packages, we have two remaining at the lovely Hampton Inn and Suites with seats in Section A Row 19: available for online booking here.

Nov. 29, 2010: CMA Country Christmas airs tonight at 9:30 Eastern (8:30 Central) on ABC. Artists featured include Kellie Pickler, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, and many more.

If you would like to experience the CMA Music Festival in the most immediate and exhilarating way, stay in the heart of Nashville so you can walk to the music venues. The Courtyard Marriott on Fourth and Church is one of the more elegant hotels in the city and it's supremely well-located for Festival goers. Your Festival passes covers all the day and night-time concerts, along with admission to the autograph/photo sessions at the Convention Center.

We have one remaining package for two at the Courtyard--and it's a head- turner. Featuring Gold Circle tickets in Section A Row 19, the package includes five nights (June 8-13, 2011) hotel lodging, two four-day Gold Circle passes to the 2011 CMA Music Festival, and tax. Price is $1599.00 per person, based on double occupancy. The package will be online by 12 noon on Nov. 25, 2010 and there's only one of them. A  nonrefundable deposit of $350.00 USD per person is due at the time of the booking. The balance of the package price is due by March 1, 2011. If you'd like to present this package as a gift, we'll be glad to prepare a customized gift certificate for you. Book here. You can see our full listing of CMA Fest 2011 packages and prices here.

November 20, 2010: Every year BlueShoe Nashville receives telephone calls and emails from clients who would like to present a Music City gift to a friend or a loved one for an anniversary, a birthday, a holiday, or some other special occasion. These calls become more frequent as we approach the Christmas season. In an effort to highlight some of our best Nashville hotel/ticket vacation packages, in the next few weeks we'll be listing our Festival packages with detailed descriptions. All of our ticket/hotel packages come with the option of a gift certificate we'll be glad to customize for you with the name of the recipient, the giver's name, the occasion for the gift, a color photo of Nashville or the concert event, and any personal expressions you'd like to include.

September 1, 2010: A 3-hour special on the 2010 CMA Music Festival airs tonight on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. The performance to watch for is Keith Urban's cover of Joe Cocker's arrangement of "With a Little Help from My Friends." Urban dedicated the song to the people of Nashville who pulled together to help their neighbors during the terrible flooding in early May. With film footage of flood scenes playing on the stage screen behind him, Urban was joined by Tony Brown on the piano, Sarah Buxton, Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman. It was one of the most masterful and moving performances of the entire Festival.
