What you'll find for breakfast at the Elliston Place Soda Shop is definitely southern: sometimes they have bagels and sometimes they don't, but they always have biscuits. And ice cold orange juice, hot coffee, and platters of eggs and grits and sausage. The service is excellent and the atmosphere in this 1939 shop will put you at ease. With tile floors, dinette tables, cosy booths, and red vinyl bar stools, it's easy to see why musicians are fond of staging their album covers here. Alison Krauss and Union Station's New Favorite cover photo was taken here a couple of years ago.

Lunch and supper are served as well (the fried chicken platter is a winner) and the chocolate milk shakes may be the best in town (Rotiers' makes a great shake as well). In fact, we suggest you try Elliston Place for supper this coming Tuesday, Feb. 11 and then saunter across the street to the famous Exit/In. The talented Virgil Monroe band will be performing there at 7 pm as part of Billy Block's Western Beat at Exit/In.
