Howe Wildflower Garden at Cheekwood: Early March
|
Wildflower Fair: March 30, 31, and April 1, 2001 The Howe Wildflower Garden at Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Art Museum is funded and supported through The Garden Club of Nashville. Named in honor of Cora B. Howe, a devoted Nashville gardener and wildflower lover. Mrs. Howe's garden at her home in East Nashville was opened to the public in 1929 and until her death in 1967. At that time, the garden (called "Wildings" by Mrs. Howe) was given to Cheekwood and moved to its present location. Hundreds of plants were dug and replanted. A Wildflower Fair is held each spring at Cheekwood. Over 100 species of nursery propagated wildflowers and native plants will be for sale. This plant sale benefits the Howe Wildflower Garden for the care and maintenance of it. Daily tours will be available of the Howe Wildflower Garden in its spring splendor!
