Nashville Street Views: Midtown Virtual Tour #1
| |
|
West End Avenue & 19th Avenue, going west away from downtown & toward Vanderbilt University. This is the charming and bustling section of Nashville known as "Midtown." It is replete with a variety of restaurants, hotels, shops, and art galleries. We'll be taking a walk starting at 19th Avenue. It's a cold winter's day and the sky is gray, but notice that there is a dark green tree on the right. That's a southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) and Nashville happily abounds in them. Their leaves are evergreen so even in the bleakest months they brighten the landscape. When we do our walking tour of Vanderbilt, you'll see some specimens that are ancient giants.
